"Tell Your Heart to Trounce Again" is a vocal written by Bernie Herms, Randy Phillips, and Matthew Westward and originally recorded by Gimmicky Christian-Worship trio, Phillips, Craig and Dean for their twelfth studio anthology, Breathe In (2012).[1] It was later recorded past American singer Danny Gokey for his second studio album, Hope in Front end of Me (2014), with product by Herms. Gokey'southward rendition was released to Christian radio January 8, 2022 through BMG-Chrysalis every bit the album'due south third unmarried.[2] The song reached number two on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, earning Gokey his highest-charting single to date.[iii]

"Tell Your Heart to Beat out Again" is a midtempo, piano-driven ballad written by Bernie Herms, Randy Phillips, and Matthew Due west. Initially composed in the style of Contemporary Christian music, Gokey's recording also includes influences of bluish-eyed soul and country pop. ) to a "flowing" tempo of approximately 67 BPM.[5] The song follows a chord progression of East – Dm7 – B sus2 – F5 – Csus4 and includes a ii octave vocal range spanning from C4 through C6.[5] Lyrically, the song tells a story of starting over and moving on after a tragedy, with the narrator'due south faith in God bolstering his resilience.[6]

An accompanying video was directed by Kristin Barlowe and premiered June i, 2016.[7] It focuses on a woman who releases her sadness through dance and a man who takes upward boxing to defend himself after a mugging incident, both shown to have grown stronger through their struggles.
